Rue (Ruda) Soap is a traditional cleansing bar loved for its “clear-out” energy. Rue is one of my favourite, and most trusted plant ali for protection, cleansing, removal of negative spirits, etc. Add this oil to just about anything for strong protection, deep energetic cleansing, reversal and evil eye magic, and removing negative blocks. 

Rue, also known as ruda or the queen of herbs, is native to the Mediterranean area. The Rue plant has been used in magic rituals since ancient times and will generally be used today in Wicca and Santeria. Fresh rue herb is the most commonly used, but there are also benefits that come from using rue candles, rue soap and rue floor wash.

Rue is associated with the planets Mars and Saturn and the element fire. It is also associated with the goddesses Hecate and Diana.

In Santeria, Rue is one of the more popular plants a santero will use in purification rituals. In cleansing ceremonies called despojos, the plants will be tied together in bunches and rubbed on a person. Rue is often an ingredient in purifying baths used to rid the bather of evil spirits or negative influences. Fresh rue herb is typically used in rituals, however some gain its benefits from rue soap, rue bath and floor wash, as well as from burning rue candles.

Candles in the shape of a cat are burned for good luck in various areas dependent upon their colour.

Black cat candles are used in works to kill bad luck and in gambling spells, as well as to call upon the spirit of the black cat. They also may be used to create bad luck or cross an individual when dressed with bend over or controlling oil.

How to Burn Dragon’s Blood Resin

Dragon’s Blood is typically burned using a charcoal disc:

1. Place a charcoal disc in a heat-safe incense burner or cauldron.

2. Light the charcoal until it sparks and begins to ignite.

3. Allow it to heat until the surface turns grey and fully ashed over.

4. Place a small piece of Dragon’s Blood resin on top of the charcoal.

5. Allow it to melt and release thick aromatic smoke.

6. Add more resin as needed during your ritual or cleansing work.

Because it produces a strong, dense smoke, it is best used in a well-ventilated area and always on a heat-safe surface.

Alum Powder is a traditional mineral curio used in hoodoo, rootwork, and folk magic for stopping gossip, silencing slander, protection, cleansing, and restricting unwanted influence. Alum is naturally astringent — causing a tightening or puckering sensation — which led to its well-known use in sympathetic magic for shutting the mouth of someone spreading rumours, lies, or harmful talk.
