Whether you love or hate cooking, adding an element of magic while preparing your meals can not only make cooking fun but also bring you the added benefits of mindful cooking. When we say mindful cooking, it is really just about understanding the metaphysical properties to your ingredients as you prepare and make a meal. Everything has a metaphysical property behind it, whether that be fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices! They say that, “a meal made with love always tastes better.” It’s not only a cute sentiment but in a way rings a lot of truth. When your mom or spouse makes a warm and homemade meal, every bite is filled with the knowledge your loved one poured their time and energy into making something for you. Loving energy is poured into the meal and therefore adds that energy to the food. This is just how any type of spellwork is conducted; by using the energy of yourself and the energy of your tools- in this case ingredients! To make cooking a bit fun, think of it like potion making because in a way it quite literally is potion making. Adding thought behind each ingredient you add can be mixed together for a final goal. You can cook any dinner with the intention of good health, good fortune, love or even spiritual cleansing. Magic in the kitchen comes from the joy of not just creating a meal for the body but also for the soul. There is a lot of heart and attentiveness that comes with cooking in general; constantly checking to make sure nothing is burning, that there is a perfect amount of each seasoning added and always a taste test to make sure everything is blending together as it should. A lot of energy goes into making a good meal you’re proud of! Every ingredient holds a purpose in the physical sense, so why not the magical? Setting the Scene Before any spellwork, a good cleanse is always called for! This allows a clean slate for us to draw in the energy we desire. Cleansing can be done in so many ways! Of course, the classic way most of us cleanse is by burning herbal bundles such as white sage, blue sage, cedar or rue. Dried herbs aren’t our only options though! We also love cleansing with resins such as frankincense, copal or even amber! Or, if a smoke free alternative works better for you, there are Liquid Smudge Sprays or Cedar and Sage Sprays that cleanse just as well! Enchanting Your Tools When you think of a typical witch’s tool, a giant dusty grimoire or maybe a table sized black cauldron may come to your mind (even those tools are totally awesome) your practical tools will do just as well! Whether it be your stir spoon or spatula or your favourite frying pan, they can all be blessed with good fortune. Enchanting or blessing an object can be done in so many different ways, some like to draw ancient runes on the handles of their cooking utensils or tie red string to the top of them- we like to anoint our tools with oils. Anointing oils can be used in so many ways even outside of the kitchen; to dress a candle, dropped in a diffuser or bath water, or even just as perfume! Protection oils can be anointed in runes, sigils or religious symbols on the body, windows, doors and so much more! In this case, we will be using anointing our cooking utensils with any type of Blessing Oils which could also include Sweetgrass, Palo Santo or our in house blend Blessing Oil! You can drop just a little bit of oil on your pointer finger and then draw a rune, sigil, cross, pentacle or any other symbol you wish on the handles!  Magical Ingredients Mother Nature has gifted us with a bountiful land full of wheat, rice, vegetables and fruits and we are so lucky to be able to even grow a lot of our own food in our backyards! Even more so, we have grocery stores and farmer’s markets at our disposal! Our options are endless so it's bound to find ingredients that match what you look for to include in your meals both in taste and magic!  Think of the two most basic ingredients for some of your most beloved recipes! What comes to mind? Maybe onion and garlic? Well, they both have amazing protection, purification and banishing properties! Other ingredients like corn, rice and wheat are usually used in prosperity spellwork because they are foods that come in plentiful amounts! Making dinners like stir frys, pastas, soups and burrito bowls allows a lot of room to add many colourful veggie and herbal ingredients to layer up those properties.  Herbs Herbs are one of the main ingredients for any spellwork, not just the cooking kinds! Whether it be to soak in a bath, dress a candle or burn they are almost always included! But there are so many basic herbs you would already be adding to a dish that could elevate the magic in your pot! Even just salt and pepper have amazing qualities themselves! Salt has very strong cleansing and purification properties and black pepper can be used for protection! Rosemary is used for luck, love and money! Basil can be used for protection, happiness and wealth! Overall, there are so many ways to bring good energy into not only your cooking space but your meals. It brings a new sense of life to the way we think about cooking and even the way we feel when we cook. We're all human, we all have to do it, so why not make the most out of it? We are all familiar with Mercury Retrograde. We’ve all blamed it for some reason whether that be lost emails, communication errors, road blocks or any other issues regarding communication, technology or travel. It's time to use all the cleansing practices in your tool box. Understanding the symptoms of carrying unwanted energy is helpful to your magical practice. Half Of Our Lives Is Spent During Mercury Retrograde  3-4 times a year we are affected by this planetary event. It lasts for 2 months each which totals 6-8 months of the year. That means half of our lives is spent under the influence of Mercury Retrograde.  Even though mercury retrograde has a bad rep with messing with our day to day lives it is a powerful opportunity to shift your mindset and turn your blocks into growth and evolution.  The first step is to being aware of what I like to call areas for elevation. These are the moments when you feel emotionally elevated. When your heart rate speeds up, you become dis regulated, irritated and stressed. It can even lead you to feeling attacked, putting you in a defensive position where you are guarded and unable to acknowledge anything other than the turmoil inside of you.  If you can during these emotionally elevated moments, and I know this can be asking a lot, step away from the situation and begin the process of regulating your nervous system. Breathing is by far the best way to begin this process.  3 breathing techniques to regulate your mind, body and spirit.   Scream Into Your Pillow The first and often easiest is if you can go grab a pillow in a separate room and scream as loud and as hard as you can into it. Let out that gut wrenching primal scream we all have inside of us.  Whether it be the adrenalin that begins coursing through your body or the release of the pent up energy, I find that I begin to quickly feel a lot better after this practice.  Breath of Fire The breathing technique known as Breath of Fire involves passive, normal inhalations and powerful, rapid exhalations. This style of forced exhalation may help reduce stress, boost brain function, and improve respiratory health. It’s also said to strengthen the abdominal muscles and improve digestion. How to do breath of fire Start in a seated cross-legged position. Sit up tall. Place your hands on your knees, palms facing upward. You can also place a hand on your belly to feel it rise as you breathe. Inhale through your nose, feeling your belly expand as you do so. Without pausing, exhale forcefully through your nose while contracting your abdominal muscles. Keep your inhales and exhales equal in length. Repeat until you’re comfortable with the pattern. Continue the rhythm, inhaling passively and exhaling forcefully. Repeat several times to practice. Now, speed up the inhales and exhales. Your exhales should be powerful and loud. Repeat for 30 seconds. Over time, you can try doing Breath of Fire for longer. Square Breathing This is a breathing technique you can practice anywhere in any position. I’ve recently spent several hours using this technique during a tattoo session. It worked wonders to keep me calm and help me manage the pain.  How to do square breathing Begin by slowly exhaling all of your air out. Then, gently inhale through your nose to a slow count of 4. Hold at the top of the breath for a count of 4. Then gently exhale through your mouth for a count of 4. At the bottom of the breath, pause and hold for the count of 4. Repeat You might want to set an intention, or invite a neutral or positive image to focus on during your breathing practice. Your intention could be “relaxation,” or “healing” -- whatever you find engaging and authentic for you. While breathing I focus on how my body physically feels. The air moving in and out of my nose, filling mu lungs, the tightness in my chest and belly when I have a full breath of air and the sensation of pulling my stomach towards my spine when I’m exhaling.  This is a wonderful technique to use to ground yourself and bring yourself out of your mind and into your body.    Mercury Retrograde Offers Opportunities For Growth When I have moments to spare, often during my commute, in the shower or before bed I like to revisit my day and see if there is any moments that stand out. This is particularly important to do during mercury retrograde when our challenges around communication, technology and travel comes to the surface.  Think back to moments when you were particularly challenged. These are opportunities for growth and evolution. Reflect on what triggered you and why. Next time you encounter a similar event it may be easier to look at it with empathy and softness.  I have found myself in many cycles that did not serve me. Every witch wants to do the big spell work that packs a huge punch, but more often than not the real power comes from small acts of magic the practitioner perform every day. Those small acts build upon each other and one day they will find themselves living a truly magical life. 

I find neuroscience fascinating, especially when you consider the implications neural plasticity has when directed towards mental health. Neural Plasticity is the brains ability to change. No matter what age you are your brain has the capability to create new neural networks and prune old ones you no longer want around. This is what is often referred to as "Shadow work" in the metaphysical world. I highly recommend using multiple sources of support throughout this process. Family, friends, a social worker, a therapist, etc.   What Is Neural Plasticity? To simplify we’ll use a metaphor. Consider your brain as a city. Each building stores various schemes, or categories of information. The roads that connect each of those buildings (stores of information) are the neural pathways/networks.  As an example let’s say you want to take a drink of coffee. In one building (scheme) you hold all the information on how to take that drink. You have to reach out your hand, close your hand around the cup, identify where your mouth is and lift it up to your lips. Make sure your lips are in proper position and you tilt the cup every so slightly as to not spill it all over yourself.  In a separate building lies the information that holds what to do if it’s a hot drink. You have gathered this information due to past experiences of scalding your mouth, which is an unpleasant experience you want to avoid.  In order to tie these two schemes together you have to use the roads (neural pathways).  When it comes to healing trauma, consider your triggers. I’ll use my personal healing journey as an example.  Fig 1. The 4 Attachment Styles Due to my traumatic childhood/adolescence I developed an avoidant attachment style. This meant that I learnt from a young age that I couldn’t rely on anyone but myself. If I did rely on someone, it most often ended up in disappointment and abandonment. As an adult I grew into a hyper-independent individual. I was self-reliant, I  never asked for help, in fact, I viewed help as a form of weakness.  In relationships  this attachment style presented itself by closing myself up to others. I had walls built up around my gooey insides to protect my vulnerable bits. When I got hurt I intentionally froze people out because they didn’t deserve to see me in my most vulnerable state. I was too scared of getting hurt. I became a martyr with my emotions. I was so lonely, but I did it to myself and constantly complained about it.  Eventually, through self-therapy, journaling, and trauma tarot work, I recognized this pattern and its negative effect on my life. I decided to change it. A book I recommend you read if you are interested in the science behind habit forming is "Rewire Your Brain: Think Your Way to a Better Life" by John B. Arden Changing Your Brain   Fig 2. Rewire your brain with gratitude Here’s the thing about the brain, it can’t differentiate between memory and reality. We all have moments where we relive a fight in our minds. We come up with better arguments, we find loopholes we couldn’t see at the time, we discover new variables that we hadn’t considered before. When we are re-living those moments in our imaginations our brain believes it is really happening. Therefor it produces the same chemicals and the same results as when it did happen.  The more you relive this experience in your mind the easier it becomes to access the same chemical results. Eventually your brain develops automaticity towards this neurological event and it happens without any thought, it’s automatic. What I refer to as neural highways are neural networks that have been so well travelled that it becomes a way of living, an automatic reaction that your body and mind depends on.  Whenever my avoidant attachment style was triggered I would go down this neural pathway that lead me into reliving arguments in my head. My cortisol (stress hormone) spiked, my adrenaline would race and my heart rate would speed up. Mentally I was angry. I was furious. I was entitled. I was dangerous.  One thing the book did not prepare me for was how long of a process changing your neural network is. It took me years, and even to this day I still have to work to avoid going back into that avoidant attachment style. But I promise it is worth it!!! The change happens slowly and in layers. For me the first layer was becoming aware of this unhealthy process/reaction. I just noticed it while it was happening or after it had happened and acknowledged it for what it was.  Once I was able to recognize the pattern and identify when it was happening I could make a decision to let it happen or to stop it in its tracks. Over time I got better and better at this. I learnt tricks to stop it from happening. Walking away and giving myself 15 minutes to regulate my nervous system was incredibly helpful. Journaling about it and writing it down gave me a physical place to deescalate the situation. Going for a walk or any movement was helpful. Once I was deescalated I was able to think rationally. First I acknowledged my tiny accomplishment and told myself how proud I am of myself. Secondly I reaffirmed the new habit I wanted to build. I would tell myself that I am open to a secure attachment style, I am open to being vulnerable with others I trust. Only I am capable of healing myself, that is my responsibility.  Fig 3. Neurons that fire together (use your senses) wire together Using Magic to Change Your Brain Doing spells to change your mindset and improve your mental health is an excellent way to build new neural pathways and strengthen them. When creating new knowledge in your brain, the best way to make it stick is to engage multiple senses. I don’t know about you, but the lessons I remember best are ones that I can physically learn through my hands and eyes.  When you are creating a spell you are making choices to choose correspondences, you are setting an intention and you are putting all your energy and will into that intention.  With the intention to change your brain whatever oils or herbs you choose will strengthen the neural network. The scents will build a layer of pathways that are linked to your intention. Whatever incense you have burning, whatever scents are around you, those can all be linked to your intention. Scent is one of the strongest senses attached to memory.  Every action you do to build that spell strengthens those neural network layers. Holding the candle, carving a symbol or your intention into it, crushing up stone to roll your candle in, writing your intention on a piece of paper and burning it. Through your sense of touch you are adding layers into your neural network.  Use your sense of hearing by being mindful of what music you have playing in the background. Make your intention rhyme so that it’s fun to say and pleasant on the ears.  Engage your sense of site by choosing colours that hold meaning to you. Once your spell is completed continue to use your magic to build those neural pathways. When you are tempted to go back down those old, unhealthy neural pathways, instead stabilize your nervous system and repeat your intention out loud.  Fig 5. Create a talisman as a physical reminder Create a spell to charge a talisman that will be a visual reminder of your intention. Wear it or place it somewhere where you notice it often. Create a sigil for your intention and anoint yourself with that sigil using the oils you used to create your spell.  Every single action you take to re-wire your brain will increase the ease in which your brain flows towards that new belief/habit/reaction.  Building Mindfulness Tools Throughout this process you are adding new tools in your mental health tool box.  Self-awareness Self-awareness is one of the foundational tools for a healthy mindset. Each time you can identify when you are becoming elevated and/or your body chemistry is beginning to change, you are building self-awareness. With enough practice you will build your knowledge of your mental capacity. You will know when you need to exit a situation and take a break.  You can not learn, you can not retain Information, and you can not problem solve when you are escalated. When you are in fight or flight mode all you can do is survive.  This means that in order to communicate and get through an argument or a situation you have to approach it with a regulated nervous system.  Calming Techniques Building calming techniques is another tool to add to your mental health tool box. This is a place where you can have fun and play. Find out what works for you. A few that work wonders for me are: Fig 6. How To Do Square Breathing Write it out with journaling. Write about the situation or write down all the fucks you don’t want to give or who can go fuck what. Square breathing. When you have control of your breath you have control of your life.  Go for a walk. Physically remove yourself from the location and ground yourself. Walk barefoot on the grass. Dance it out. Nothing makes me feel better like good music and physical exercise. Get your sweat on for 15 minutes. Use your senses to ground yourself and calm your nervous system. The 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding Technique Fig 7. The 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding Technique Self-assessment Every time you become aware of your elevated state you are building a relationship with your body. Being able to scan your body and Identify how the situation is affecting you physically, mentally and spiritually, you are building your self-assessment tools. With enough practice you’ll be able to predict what your reaction will be to situations and have the opportunity to avoid them all together.  Self-Empowerment  Reclaim your power by choosing how to act/react. The only thing we have control over in this life is our response to it. Do so with intention. Do so with knowledge. Do so with choice.  No. Is the most powerful spell you can use. And I beg you to USE IT! Say it verbally, write it through texts. It is acceptable and valid for you to choose where you put your energy. At first it’s difficult to stand up for yourself, especially if no one has advocated for you before. Over time and with practice it becomes easier.  Shamelessly create those boundaries. If those around you do not like it then they are using you for their personal gain, not for your benefit. Keep yourself and others accountable to those boundaries! Communicate when they have been violated. If a situation makes you feel bad in a certain way it is a clear indicator that one of your boundaries/beliefs has been misused.  I like to joke around about how witchcraft is simply spicey psychology, but it’s true! I’ve used witchcraft to completely change my life. I promise you it is a challenge that is worth it. It’s not all uphill either. You are aloud to stumble, you are aloud to fall, just remember to get back up, brush off your clothes and try again. Don’t give up, that is the key.

My spouse and I spent our weekend in nature. We had a friend watch our child, packed our bags and headed out into the forest. We deeply relaxed at my favourite co-op in Quebec, Aux barges du Lac Castor where we rented a cabin facing the lake.  We spent our time in nature. With no cell service it forced us to deeply unplug and be nourished by the elements.  This weekend forced me to examine my beliefs and my relationship with the elements. I discovered that my view on the elements was limited to what I had read in witchy books and what I learned through my tarot practice.  I feel that each individuals relationship to the elements could vary. In fact I believe it should vary. We all have different experiences and those experiences shape the relationships around us.  Elemental magic is a power you can tap into at all times with everything you do. With every act you can perform the elements are present.  As I write I am aware of the elements I am engaging with. I can feel the warming effect of fire underneath the blanket that is lying over my lap. It is also present in my computer, creating the electrical currents that are powering my device. Next to me is a bottle of water and a coffee. My breath is calm and even allowing the element of air to flow in and out of my body, fuelling my words. I feel supported by the earth, I feel the way my couch is curving around my body. I feel stable and comforted.  The Elements Are a Force of Nature Just like human nature each element has a gentle side and an aggressive side. When you are considering spell work and how you want to approach a situation consider all aspects of each element. All the elements are best in balance and moderation.  Earth Is the fertile soil in our gardens that nourish us through our food. It’s the gentle sand between our toes that spark joy in our lives. In its aggressive state it is the cracked foundation in our house that causes us thousands of dollars in damage. It is the sink holes that give way and crumble. It is the Earth quakes that shake up and test our structures.  Belief systems for me are governed by the element of earth because our very personalities are built around them.  Air is the gentle breeze transporting the smell of lilacs into your nose or it can be the mighty hurricane that will transport your vehicle miles away. In its calm state it is the rustle of leaves through the trees, it can lift up the seeds of your intentions and place them on fertile earth where it can sprout and grow. In it’s aggressive side it is pure chaos blowing which ever way, demolishing well constructed buildings and forcefully carving out it’s own path.  Water Is the gentle tide pools, creating delicate ecosystems that support life. It’s the calm babbling brook that gently transports water from one area to another. In its aggressive state it’s ugly crying, the deepest part of the sea where little life exists, It’s the undertows that pull you under and steal your breath, it’s the flash floods and the whirlpools. The element of water is deeply transformative since it turns from gaseous state to liquid and to solid state. It can be used to transform stable parts of your life into something else that is stable. Even the gentlest stream will erode the earth given enough time. It takes the path of least resistance.  Fire is the light glow of a candle flame, the warmth of a warm blanket, the beauty of a campfire at night. It can be used for fire burning ceremonies or cord cutting rituals. It is the element for passion, for creativity, and for inspiration. In its aggressive state it’s a forest fire that no amount of water can extinguish. It’s scorched flesh, hot coals that will set anything it touches on fire, the desert day that is void of moisture where only the toughest can survive. It is the all powerful sun that is gentle and warming but can cause painful sunburns. It can heat your meal to perfection or burn it to a crisp. It’s a tricky element that deserve a ton of respect and to be worked with carefully.  Building a Relationship With The Elements Each individual practitioner will have varying ideas of what each element governs in their lives. This is the way I think it should be. We all have different memories and those are the anchors to relationships. The stronger the relationship means more power will be accessible.  For instance, I myself would call upon the element of fire if I needed comfort and security. This element isn’t necessarily associated with but when I think of my cozy place I am under a pile of blankets in front of a fire. I am warm and snuggly.  One thing I noticed this weekend was how hunched up I was in the cold and once I was kissed the the warmth of the fire my body began to expand. Cold contracts were as warmth expands. There is magic is that.  When you want to grow a certain area of your life consider using the element of fire in its gentle state to help you slowly release tension and expand.  Maybe your comfort is the element of air. A soft touch of a mother whispering comfort into your ear. Maybe it’s the smell of your favourite meal cooking on the stove.  Perhaps a hot bath, a cup of tea or sitting by a creek listening to the water run through is your ideal comfort. The sound of rain on a steel roof is one of my favourite sounds.  Getting my hands dirty has always been a way for me to alleviate my body of anxiety. Gardening is a well loved past-time for me because of that.  This might be an unpopular opinion, but for me the element of prosperity is water. Look at the verbiage used in the financial world. Making assets liquid, a fund is also referred to as a pool of money.  The energy of money for me flows in and out like the tides. I find when I hoard money it becomes stagnant and the flow stops. Where as when I spend my money in ways that benefit myself and my family the flow is strong.  I am also aware that this comes from a place of privilege and that many don’t have any excess income to spend.  My prosperity altar is my propagation station for this reason.  I associate the element of air with healing because our breath is our life force.  Become aware of the elements in your life. Examine them and see if any resonate with different areas of your life. If it goes against popular opinion that’s ok because it’s your magic and it should be unique to you.  All Elements, Present At All Times.  While I was sitting in front of a bonfire I thought about how the element of fire was the strongest present but all the other elements were still there. The element of water was present through the wood for the tree would not be able to grow without it. Earth was also present in the wood by being the fuel that burned. Air is needed for the fire to catch.  Another example is a book. Again the water gave life to the trees which gave life to the paper that created the book. Fire is present in the inspiration that drove the author and air is present through the words and the logic that wrote the story.  A shower is considered to be a ruling act under the element of water. Consider the fire warming up the water, the air moving around being displaced by the water, and the earth that is supporting the water heater or the floor of the tub/shower.  Trees are rooted deep inside the earth. Water gives the trees life. The sun, a fiery ball in the solar system, encourages the trees to photosynthesize allowing them to take in carbon monoxide and release oxygen. Literal air!  Look at any object natural or man made. At some point throughout its creation it was influenced by all the elements. Especially when you consider the presence of the elements in all living life forms, including plants and animals.  The Elements In Our Bodies I’ve gone over the basic elemental presence in plants, but have you considered the elemental process in animals, mammals specifically?  I’m talking about our bodies which is our greatest tool as practicing witches. We breathe in the element of air into our lungs. In turn that air pumps our heart which using electrical signals (fire) pumps out our blood and plasma (water) into the rest of our bodies. Our bones and tissues (Earth) are the physical makeup of our bodies. Lastly our spirit is what creates the unique version of you.  We need every element in our bodies.  Fire is present in the act of digestion, breaking down food into fuel for our bodies to absorb. It is the electrical signals that are traveling up and down our spines, sending information throughout our nervous system that keep our bodies functioning. It is the heat that resonates from our core fighting off sickness and disease.  Water is the various fluids that keep our bodies lubricated and functioning, it is that which circulates throughout our physical systems. Our body is comprised of 55%-60% of water. It is our spit, our urine, our tears, our sweat, our plasma, our blood, and all the other fluids that power our bodies.  Air is the breath in our lungs and the thoughts in our mind. Every time we speak out loud we are using the element of air to transport our words out into the universe. I consider my words to be powerful spells for good or for harm. We can calm our nervous system or speed it up using our breath. We can breathe into various parts of our bodies expanding your awareness into them. If you have control of your breath you have control of your life.  Earth creates our bodies. Without our bodies we wouldn’t exist in the physical world. Our bones which support us, the various organ tissues that create the system that allows us to be alive. Our muscles to our flesh. It’s all the element of Earth.  Spirit: that which makes you you. Due to your spirit you can use your body as a tool for spell work.  Magic in Common Tasks I will keep repeating it, your body is your most powerful tools for spell work. With this in mind you can turn even the most mundane tasks into spell work. All the processes your body needs to do in order to stay alive can be acts of magic.  Breathing is an act of air, breathing out that which no longer serves and breathing in life and health. Speaking your truth can be a powerful spell and an act for manifesting and protection.  Eating can be a ritual to Fire, welcoming energy and vitality into your life.  Going to the bathroom can be a water ritual to cleanse your body of that which is no longer serving, riding yourself of physical, mental and spiritual waste to make room for healing.  Sleeping turns into an Earth ritual to ground your body and charge it up with the Earth’s stabilizing energy.  Exercising is an opportunity for a fire ritual. Take a few moments at the beginning of your activity to set an intention. I like to use my trips to the gym to spark creativity or burn out sickness or limiting beliefs. As you build the heat in your body feel the element of fire come alive in your body. Feel it burning away thoughts and ailments that no longer serve, making way for new ideas, for health, for creativity and inspiration.  Water rituals for releasing and cleansing using the gentle path of least resistance include baths, showers or crying. Yes, even the act of crying can be a beautiful ritual to cleanse. After a good crying session I always feel like I’ve given my mental body a good shower.  Water is a nurturing energy. I like to soothe my nervous system with a cup of tea of a warm towel on my face. You can call upon the element of water to still to rough waters in your soul.  Walking on the Earth bare foot, also called earthing, is a powerful spell to ground your energy. You can call up energy when you’re low or you can send too much energy into the Earth. When I am filled with fear, anxiety or any other unwanted energy I like to lay on the Earth and feel it sucking out all of those yucky vibes.  Using your voice is an opportunity for an air ritual. You can verbally set boundaries for protection. The simplest spell is the word “No”.  This is why I believe chants or incantations are powerful tools. Especially when rhyming, it’s pleasant to say and it focuses the energy to raise into a specific intent.  Next time you’re performing in your car with song harness the element of air to uplift your mood. If I’m in a funk I turn on music I love to sing to and by the second or third song my mood has shifted.  Using scents is a powerful way to engage with the element of air. You can use specific scents to harness different feelings within your body. This is a powerful way to shift your mood for a specific purpose.  I highly suggest examining each individual element and figuring out what your relationship is with each one. Perhaps you don’t have a strong relationship with one element in particular. That’s the one I would work on and see how it can present itself in your life.
