Passion Flower

Passiflora incarnata (Passifloraceae) is known as passion flower and is commonly used as an herbal tea.

Magical Uses: Contrary to its name, the Passion Flower is placed in the house to calm problems and troubles and to bring peace. Carried, it attracts friends and great popularity. To relieve tiredness and promote a good night's sleep, add Passion Flower to a sachet and place it under your pillow. Carry Passion Flower in a mojo bag to provide joy during difficult times. Passion Flower may be used during meditation to help the mind, body, and spirit recover as well. 

Health Uses: Most species of the genus are found in South America, eastern Asia, southern Asia, and New Guinea.  Passion Flower is a relaxing nervine, often combined with other nervines to reduce stress and tension and aid in sleep and help to quiet mental chatter.  Passionflower was used traditionally in the Americas and later in Europe as a calming herb for anxiety, insomnia, seizures, and hysteria. It is still used today to treat anxiety and insomnia.
