Our Community Involvement with Hiatus House & other Social Programs

Giving back to the community is very important to me and my family, and we do this by volunteering, donations, hosting fundraisers, and work placements. We donate to several local charities, including Hiatus House, Children’s Aid, Hospice, and other local programs.

Our Community Involvement with Hiatus House & other Social Programs Giving back to the community is very important to me and my family, and we do this by volunteering, donations, hosting fundraisers, and work placements. We donate to several local charities, including Hiatus House, Children’s Aid, Hospice, and other local programs. Here at Smudge, we focus on Hiatus House, the local women's shelter dedicated to providing safety and support for women and children fleeing domestic violence. This partnership of over 10 years is a reflection of my gratitude for the help I received as a young person healing from childhood abuse, turning past pain into present action, directly addressing the cycle of violence.I have established Smudge Metaphysical as a pillar of positive energy and social consciousness, transforming transactions into shared acts of purpose. Myself and my family are committed to social responsibility and community well-being. Thank you so much for your continued support, I appreciate every one of you ~ Michelle, Owner of Smudge Metaphysical.

Transitional Housing Project commitment of $10,000 in 2025

In 2025, we have sponsored an apartment in Hiatus House’s Transitional Housing Project to provide a critical second stage of support for women and children who are leaving their emergency shelter after fleeing violence and abuse. The project, titled "A Place to Heal,"is considered a vital response to the high number of women who are otherwise discharged into homelessness. The transitional housing model is designed to provide comprehensive support beyond just a place to live. It connects residents to a variety of essential services, including:

  • Counselling and Support: Individual and group counselling.
  • Health: Connection to a nurse practitioner clinic.
  • Financial & Legal: Income support and legal services.
  • Education & Employment: Job training and education upgrading.
  • Family Support: Children's services.
