A practical, modern-day exploration of one of the oldest, most universal, and storied forms of folk magic.
Antonio Pagliarulo explores the phenomenon of the Evil Eye: what it is, its origins and causes— and, most crucially, how to avoid, repel, and remove it. Rich with cultural anecdotes and traditions, mystical lore, and modern concepts, The Evil Eye offers practical advice for shielding yourself from the destructive and lingering power of this mysterious and persistent force.
The book:
- Defines the Evil Eye and traces its roots into antiquity and across an extraordinary breadth of cultures and traditions
- Shows readers how to diagnose the Evil Eye, how to cure it, and how to cast it on others
- Explores the use of amulets and talismans bearing the “Evil Eye,” including its remarkable prevalence in popular jewelry designs
- Includes the history and use of various talismans such as the Hamsa; the Italian cornicello and mano figa; the azabache stone; the Kabbalah red string; mirror pendants; and many others
Reviews:
“Finally, there is a book written by an actual practitioner, in plain language, with warmth and compassion, that takes the Evil Eye and the misery it causes seriously. If you have been wondering about the Eye; if you fear it or think you have been struck by it; if you feel drawn to Evil Eye jewelry, this book is for you. May it provide you with safety, relief, and happiness.”
—from the foreword by Judika Illes, author of Encyclopedia of 5000 Spells and Pure Magic: A Complete Course in Spellcasting
“I highly recommend Antonio Pagliarulo’s contemporary exploration of this ancient and globally recognized, yet persistently enigmatic subject viewed through the lens of his own culture and experience, as well as those of people from other cultures. His writing is approachable and relatable without skimping on the requisite academia. The Evil Eye: The History, Mystery, and Magic of the Quiet Curse is an excellent resource for anyone interested in folklore and folk magic.”
—Mary-Grace Fahrun, author of Italian Folk Magic: Rue’s Kitchen Witchery
What makes this book unique? The world of the gray witch has been largely avoided, misrepresented, or glossed over with various books geared gingerly towards ‘protection magic’. These books, though informative and well written as they may be, have totally missed the spirit of the gray witch – who she really is, how she relates to the world of shadow and light, and exactly what she’s willing to do to stand her ground.
In our society ‘dark’ is automatically viewed as ‘evil’; and ‘light’ is automatically viewed as ‘good’. We’re expected to live completely within one realm and to totally avoid the other. This creates imbalance and is a great injustice to the true spirit of the ancient wise woman.
This book puts matters to right and gives the public a view of just what the gray witch is – and what she isn’t. The gray witch does not live in a world of chaos or unbridled black magic. She has a code of honor, a sense of propriety, and a relevance in today’s society.
The book has plenty of great details about the months of the year, touches on the use of hoodoo, and yet also touches on Hermetic magick and application. These subjects are very broad and would require their own book, but the author gives enough for the starting witch to get on with, and breaks it down in straight-forward language. This is indeed a path which is for people who are not of the fluffy-witch variety, or of the hard-core Chaosite/vampiric types, but it does carefully bridge the gap between the two.

Unleash your inner monster and trick-or-treat your way into a connection with the most magical and scary night of the year: Halloween! Now you can harness the eerie power of Halloween every night of year, encountering black cats, vampires, zombies, witches, werewolves, jack-o-lanterns, skeletons, mummies and characters from the Mexican Day of the Dead tradition (including Lady de los Muertos), exquisite candy skulls, and more!
Each of the 36 richly illustrated cards has an accompanying meaning in the guidebook featuring rhyming couplets like those used in ancient storytelling as well as a message of divination for you based on an aspect of Halloween tradition.

The Medicine Woman Oracle gives the keys to reconnect to the ancestral wisdom of women, to healing wounds, and to female empowerment.
Mother Earth calls her daughters ... do you hear her song?
Stemming from shamanic teachings, the traditions of the first peoples and ritual arts, this oracle, co-created by Catherine Maillard and painter Caroline Maniere, offers you the Women's Medicine Way. Discover the archetypes of the divine feminine, and the symbols of their indomitable strength, your gifts, your allies, and your powers, to restore the consciousness of the Great Goddess, and awaken you to the wisdom of Mother Earth.
Women are moving on the path from healing wounds to awakening the sacred feminine. More and more women are joining circles dedicated to them on issues such as maternity, ancestral wisdom, and sexuality. Across the world, feminist activism continues, but a new underground women's movement is on the horizon, aligned with the values connected to women's true nature, and of awakening to a new awareness. By venturing on this initiatory path, you will be able to explore your essence, reveal your talents, radiate your power, and manifest the great Dream of Pachamama.
Included are detailed card reading layouts, with four different card categories and four different backs: Archetypal, Feminine, Totems, and Medicine cards.
Women's circles, red tents, the International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers, the magic of menstrual cycles, the return to sacred sexuality … In these times of great change, women are gathering in the desire of sisterhood, intending to reconnect with their true essence, reawaken their life force, and change the world.
Using your Medicine Woman Oracle Cards
The Medicine Woman Oracle is your guide on this journey of awakening the feminine, and of healing your wounds.
The oracle was born from the medicine wheel of deep femininity, the teaching of the Keepers of the 13 Moons, and the guidance offered by my totems, Mother Bear and Snowy Owl, who breathe messages of wisdom and sisterhood into my life. In women’s circles, we share secrets, as well as laughter and support, tears and treason and rituals. Together – teachers, friends, mothers, grandmothers, young girls – we are all united, in our hearts, souls, bellies and moccasins. I wish you a fabulous encounter with yourself in the magic of the feminine, celebrating the return of the Great Goddess.
