The History Behind the Purple Scarf

The Wrapped in Courage Campaign began in Ontario in 2013, launched by the Ontario Association of Interval & Transition Houses (OAITH). Each November, during Woman Abuse Prevention Month, communities are encouraged to wear purple scarves to raise awareness, support survivors and stand against gender-based violence.

The scarf serves as a visible reminder that no woman should have to face abuse alone and that creating safer communities is everyone's responsibility.
