Used in Hoodoo protection, spells call for "blue water" to keep a residence clear of evil spirits. Traditionally they were used in gamblers luck, success and some use them to attract love.

These are used in place of the original bluestone. Bluestone was once used for Gambler's Luck, Success, Cleansing, Protection, Driving Away Evil Spirits and some claim it even it very adept at drawing LOVE and giving you peaceful dreams. However, Bluestone (copper sulphate/ blue copperas/ blue vitriol) is HIGHLY toxic and therefore HooDoo root workers started using either Mexican Anil Balls or Blueing Squares.

Use with holy water or Florida water to rid a house of curses, evil and jinxes. Dissolve in water, add a pinch of salt, and pray the 23 Psalm over the water, making the sign of the cross over the water. Use this water in a spiritual bath, floor wash, or add it to your laundry. Adding it to your laundry will whiten and purify your clothing.

Blue Balls are also used to keep away nightmares. Put a cup of water with bluing in it by your bedside.
